Why we invested
Kubrick has grown rapidly since its establishment in 2016. The company’s success reflects its focus on the fields of data engineering, data management, machine learning, cloud engineering, and data product consultancy, where the accelerated adoption of digital technologies globally is exacerbating a major skills shortage. With its unique capabilities and a scalable business model, we saw that Kubrick had a significant opportunity to expand beyond the UK and capitalise on global demand for the brightest talent.
Bowmark believes that employee development and engagement are crucial to sustainable growth. Kubrick’s differentiated employee proposition was a key attraction, centred on its commitment to support diverse hiring, training excellence and broad, long-term career opportunities.

The story so far
Bowmark is helping Kubrick to scale its platform and further enhance its operational capabilities, through investment in technology, systems and people. Since our investment in 2021, Kubrick’s consultant numbers have approximately doubled, having trained and deployed over 1,800 graduates and junior professionals across data, AI and cloud engineering roles at more than 130 blue-chip clients.
We are also supporting the company with its international growth strategy, including the successful opening of its US office in 2022, led by Kubrick’s Co-Founder and CEO, Tim Smeaton.
